THIS MONTH’S INTERNATIONAL DESIGNER PROFILE:

Throughout the year, Mapochette will profile each of our fabulous handbag designers who feature on our glam handbag site.

NottingHill Design is the cult luxury handbag label based in the heart of West London, UK. Kimberly Yurisich, a trained architect with a strong background in luxury fashion has teamed with her husband Steven to create NottingHill Design and create timeless ‘haute couture’ masterpieces inspired by 20th Century. Kimberly is a self confessed perfectionist and is passionate about the quality of finish and the attention to the minutest of details. This pride and expertise has won them international recognition and has set NottingHill Design apart. For instance handcrafted metal zip pulls – larger and heavier than standard “off the rack” models – or the Swarovski capped hinges on the LoLA clutch bag which makes a purely structural element become a beautiful feature.

Inspiration for fashion and design came at an early age. Kimberly enthuses over her grandmother’s timeless advice on fashion. “My grandmother taught me that accessorizing was key – she believed in always investing in the best shoes and handbags – since if those were of good quality they would pull the overall outfit together. I also learned to buy “investment pieces” standout pieces from a designer’s collection that may not necessarily be the “it” piece of the season (as this would date) but something truly special".

Kimberly believes in ‘form following function” and that a great design should be beautiful but also practical. She and her husband create clean, sculptural lines with a sense of proportion - but adding a sense of fun. They always try to add something unexpected like a black and white patent version of our Westbourne or a hot pink python version of the Lonsdale.

Kimberly is a truly inspirational person who is incredibly talented in her field. She lives through her work. “I couldn’t think of any other thing I would prefer to do for a career – I love creating beautiful products and working with craftsmen who share this passion.
